I am rather opinionated when it comes to luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.

This said I will tell you that this particular watch is what I consider to be a “best kept secret” sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical – NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality – a point often misunderstood – and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction – easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use – and probably more. Absolutely the sort of watch you pass down to the next generation.

All in all – and EXCELLENT choice – especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

  • Can be worn as an everyday casual watch, but can take some action, aka. underwater shananigans
  • Timekeeping is spot on
  • Luminous hands on back background make visibility fantastic

“I have several High dollar Rolex divers and I love them all but for everyday abuse and accuracy the Seamaster Professional 300 QUARTZ wins hands down. Its one of the few divers watch that is’nt a Rolex Submariner knock off. The Omega stays true to its own design and does not borrow the Rolex look in any way. This is important to me because I already own a Rolex Submariner. There is no reason this quartz movement cant last 3 lifetimes or be handed down as a family heirloom. Maintenance is also a lot cheaper than its automatic brother and less fussy all around.

The 5 link bracelet on the Bond models are a masterpiece of design and comfort. Omegas best bracelet ever.
Omegas quartz movement can be serviced 30-40 years down the road just as easy as keeping a automatic going for the same amount of time. The only difference is it will still be cheaper to service in the end.

  • Great quality, Omega don’t skimp on anything
  • Very accurate time keeping (close to atomic)
  • Very long life expectancy

Cons:

  • You may have unexplainable desires to jump of buildings, blow up bad guys and introduce yourself with your second name first!
  • But seriously, pretty hard to find any cons for this watch.

Omega 2221.80.00 Summary:

One of my favourite features of this watch in terms of appearance is the way the watch hands are made. The start of skinny and get wider as they go towards the edge of the watch face, this stands out from alot of other watches.

Also the adjustment knobs on the side of the watch stick out enough so that it’s not difficult to adjust the settings, but not enough so they they look terrible. Some watches fail terrible in this regard.

All in all, if your researching this watch you probably want it because James Bond had it, I know I do! If that’s the case, this is the model to go for and it’s popular for reasons other than James bond. It’s a very high quality watch and we recommend the Omega Seamaster 300M Quartz Blue Dial Watch highly.
